Camp STEEL
This camp, organised for Part B cadets, aims to instill core values and self-discipline as well as build the character and confidence of the cadets. As the name implies, STEEL conjures up an image of strength and tenacity. It is an acronym for:
- Standards,
- Tenacity,
- Emotional Intelligence,
- Energy and
- Leadership.
Through the various military-related activities, this camp adequately prepares them for further leadership training in the Upper Secondary level. Activities include Leadership and Self-Awareness workshops, rappelling, orienteering, paintball, physical fitness training and situational stations.
The key objectives of Camp STEEL are the following:
1. Self Awareness, Social Awareness and Team Building Team Learning- Cadets would be given a deeper insight of the NCC LCM through workshops, lectures and adventure training activities that will help them develop teamwork and heighten self and social awareness. They will be empowered with the necessary standards and empathy expected from them as NCC cadets.
2. Military Knowledge-Basics of soldiering will be introduced in the form of a bunk inspection, cadence run, 5BX, army songs, IFC (fire movement and field commands through paintball) ,and orienteering. These will provide NCC cadets with the necessary basic knowledge to serve as an NCC Edge in terms of military awareness and knowledge. These will help to build up their tenacity.
3. Physical Fitness- Cadence Run and 5BX will serve to equip cadets with the necessary basics on the importance of fitness and also to help nurture a fitness culture among cadets in the NCC. These will serve to strengthen their physical energy levels.
4. Basic Leadership Traits Introduction- Workshops will serve to challenge cadets to think and work towards developing their individual leadership skills and promote self development.
