Cadet Officer Course
Cadets who have completed their secondary school education may apply for this course which is held twice a year. Conducted at the NCC Campus, this camp transforms cadet unit sergeant majors into young cadet officers - responsible leaders who constantly strive for personal excellence. The cadet-officers trainees undergo numerous courses and trainings that are both mentally and physically challenging.
Cadets are expected to demonstrate skills and proficiencies of the NCC syllabus, while activities include lessons on conflict management, delegation, decision-making and negotiation skills. From learning Basic First-Aid skills to navigation techniques to understanding one's strengths and weaknesses during the Self-Competencies Package, they learnt a wide array of skills which would prove vital in one's ability to lead as well as influence those placed under their charge in the future. The cadets also get to meet senior officers who share their experiences of leadership.
Among the many trainings and lessons, the highlight of the course is the Situational test which is put into place to groom and evaluate the participant's ability to react and overcome different scenarios. Given a time limit as well as certain constraints, many participants will be pushed to their limits. After a rigorous and thorough programme, graduands are awarded the rank of Cadet 2nd Lieutenants, the pinnacle of youth leaders in the NCC.
